An Ode to My Wife
Praise for a woman who will sit through an entire fantasy baseball draft…
It sat there, lifeless and yet full of hope.
Names of men in columns and rows.
She didn’t have to be there, but there she was.
A pen in hand.
As boredom crept as a morning fog.
She sat by her man.
10 seconds, 5 seconds, one.
It all begins.
Betts, Altuve or Braun.
The goal to win.
The names rolled on, she stayed resolute.
Her love, always strong, now proven
More than a feeling.
Crossing names off a list was her task.
She did it.
Not once for respite did she ask.
She hid it.
Rare is the love that will sit through the draft.
Into Round 23.
But rarer still is a woman like Sarah.
The one for me.
