Unfortunately that seems to be the case, though I have been encouraged to see that there are still some corners where civil discourse remains.

I’m certainly not perfect at it, but I try to consider that there is another person on the other side of the comment thread, not just a “position” on an issue. I think we need more empathy for differing views in our society. Maybe I’m naive, but I still hope that social media can help foster that.
