You are not alone.
First, I just want to encourage you. You ARE a writer. You have great stories to share, and you have great perspectives on life that are different from anyone else. I’d encourage you not to downplay your skills. You are a writer!
Thank you for being transparent and open about your experience. I love reading something that comes from the heart. That’s why this post captivated me.
I’m fairly new to Medium as well. I’ve never been published in the Huffington Post. My writing did make it to The Cauldron by Sports Illustrated, but that’s not the point. Your worth and value aren’t defined by stats or accolades. What you just wrote was beautiful. It impacted me, and I’m sure it will impact others. Look, I’ve been there. I check the stats page, too. Every writer thinks about that stuff, I’m sure.
But what I try to focus on instead is this question: am I impacting people? Even if it’s just one person — that’s HUGE! You’ve impacted me, so you’ve already succeeded.
I’m right there with you. I love the community here on Medium, and I love to write. Keep at it! You’re doing a great job.
Thanks for sharing.
